Chas Berger has been working with long-term client, Southern Housing Group, to carry out external refurbishment works to the Ixworth Place Estate, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Works included:
- Window replacements
- Chimney repairs
- External brickwork and masonry repairs
- External decorations.
Ixworth Place is located just off the Fulham Road and is a short walk from South Kensington station, consisting of more than 300 properties spread across nine blocks.
Having initially started as a window replacement project on the estate, it soon became clear that further external improvement works were required…
Once scaffold was erected to the blocks, it was apparent that stone and brick repairs were urgently needed. After consulting with the client, and whilst scaffold was still in place, we were able to carry out these works on behalf of Southern Housing Group.
We also carried out external decorations to two of the blocks, which saved the client a significant amount of money on access costs, as scaffold would not have to be re-erected for their cyclical decorations contractor.
Ixworth Place residents are now benefiting from the external improvement works that have taken place on the estate, making their homes more secure and energy efficient.
Social Value
As part of our social value commitments, we provided a fish and chip lunch for residents to enjoy whilst works were taking place. This was held in the local community hall but take away deliveries were made to residents who were unable to leave their homes.
We also donated money towards the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party for residents which was held on the estate.
Post completion of works, we will be returning to upgrade the existing children’s playground and install an improved one in January 2023.
We provided residents with three different designs to choose from and the winning option will be positioned where the site office was once situated.
